Description

Ghost of Cassiopeia
Constellation: Cassiopeia

First use of the Optolong L-Ultimate, captured over two nights of cloudless sky in November after a multi week streak of cloud cover...  Unfortunately the transparency wasn't very good, but I wanted to try out the filter that I still went for it.

A ghostly region of dust ~550 light-years from Earth energized by the nearby star Gamma Cassiopeia (informally named Navi), the central star of the "W" asterism.  This star has a rotational velocity of a little over 1 million miles per hour, causing it to bulge with an equatorial radius longer than it's polar radius.  The nebulas are slowly being eroded by this stars ultraviolet radiation.

Due to being imaged with a 3nm filter, the reflection aspect of the nebulas are not prominent, making this a good target to get more broadband data for the nebula to hopefully bring out the blue from the reflected light from Navi.
