Description

Weather in Oklahoma hasn't been great this year for imaging but I finally put together enough nights over March and April to get my first galaxy for 2023 galaxy season.

M109 is a barred spiral galaxy 67 MLY distance in Ursa Major,  discovered in 1781, (Wiki).

I was surprised to learn  barred spirals are the more common type of spiral making  up  two thirds of spiral galaxies, with the bar being a result of a density wave.
