Description

Trifid Nebula in zoom

The magnificent Trifid Nebula, also known as M20! This nebula, located in the constellation of Sagittarius, is truly fascinating. The bright, reddish areas are formed by the emission of ionized gases, such as hydrogen, which are excited by nearby hot stars. The bluish areas, on the other hand, result from the reflection of light from these stars on interstellar dust particles. It's as if the nebula is treating us to an incredible display of colors in space! Its name is because of its three distinct divisions. However, more recent studies have revealed that this nebula is not composed of just three parts, but of even more complex and intricate regions.
