Description

This started out as a simple "what if" project...as in, "What if I threw my Canon 70-200 f/4 telephoto onto my ASI183mm and shot the Veil while waiting for this big, bright moon to leave the sky?" A setting of 135mm seemed to frame it all well, and at f/5.6 I found the stars at the corners to be respectable. So I just started shooting as many 10-minute subs as I could each night before the veil vanished behind trees in my yard. This was also my first time playing around with the Pixelmath process in PI (the blend here is Ha/Ha*.2+OIII*.8/OIII). I found this combo to give excellent contrast to the nebulosity, and I personally liked the resulting star coloration. In the end, I pushed the image pretty hard in order to emphasize the marked contrast between the H-alpha and O-III channels, and I was really surprised at the level of details that I was able to pull out of the full resolution image with just 135mm of fl. Just something a little different, ya' know... Enjoy!
