Description

Found approximately 1500 light years from earth, the Horsehead and Flame Nebulas are part of the larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex.    This brilliant formation is composed of dust and ionized hydrogen gas.  The large star just left of center is Alnitak.  It is 20 times larger than our sun and is the easternmost star in Orion’s belt.
