I really enjoy this nebula for the bright reflection aspects / detail and velvety hydrogen elements. The capture and processing proved to be a little more of challenge:

For starters, the first night when I went to collected the Ha data, I plug in SH2-126 in and captured to my heart content. Little did I know, that I had capture the part of the emission nebula that was missing the Gecko...lol. See image. I still find the Ha data here to be incredible the laminar nature and smoothness present. Also, this area has plenty of small spiral and irregular galaxies sprinkled throughout.

Next, when combining the Ha and OSC in both PI and PS, I was unable to find a complementary color and balance. Image B is the OSC data and Image C is the Ha data. In the end, I took the NB recombination data and applied it via a red color mask to the OSC data to find the desired affect.

The nebula itself is a re flection nebula similar to the witch head nebula in Orion. Located in the constellation of Lacerta, the nebula is approximately 2000 light years from earth and measures 45 light years across.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
