Description

This planetary nebula is located 4000 light years away in the constellation of Orion at a declination of +4 degrees.  The magnitude 15.3 PN spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 3 light years.

Like many PN, the outer rim is dominated by HII.  In this case, the OIII signal is so weak that I did not even take any OIII subs.

The interstellar medium (ISM) appears to be interacting with the nebula and blurring its edges. A very faint small blue star seen at the center of the nebula is likely the progenitor star.
