Description

A 68+ hour collaborative project with a friend of mine in Tucson, Alan Rockowitz.  This was a challenging nebula to process due to its very low surface brightness and complex structure.  We shot Ha (31 hrs.), OIII (34 hrs.) and SII (23 hrs.) along with RGB (4 hrs.) for stars but weren't particularly happy with the results of the SHO image so went with the HOO instead.   We may take a look at a SHO image again.  This was our first time combining data from two different scopes, cameras and filter sets so after some struggles in pre-processing the different data sets, we finally got a clean set of masters.  We did some star reduction due to the dense star field surrounding the nebula using Bill Blanshan's pixel math techniques, which seemed to work well.   In addition to PI's routine processes, Russell Croman's BXT, NXT and SXT were used extensively.
