Description

Taking advantage of clear periods in our autumnal weather, I have had several attempts at taking a full frame image of the heart nebula, after my widefield and close up efforts of IC1805 and Melotte 15.  

This is my first attempt at SHO imaging, after acquiring a Baader filter set in the summer. I manged just over 2 hours of Ha (7nm) and 1 hour each of SII (8nm) and OIII (8.5nm) data, collected via a 200mm Pentax SLR zoom lens attached to my 2/3 mono CCD camera. 

Captured in Meade Envisage, the best 60% subs were aligned and stacked in ASTAP and processed in Startools using SHO composition.  I used Ha as the luminance and green, SII red and OIII blue stacks. There is a lot of walking noise (my simple home made ST4 autoguider does not support dithering) and longer integration is needed to improve SNR.

I'm looking forward to an improvement in the weather... and the winter constellations.

Description: The Ha data (135m), with heavy noise reduction to try and remove excessive walking noise.

Description: The original data processed as L(Ha)SHO with 15 pixel noise reduction. This has improved the walking noise without losing all the detail in this under-sampled image. I'll try manually dithering my next image with this setup to see what difference it makes. Thanks for looking, feedback welcome.
