Description

This small HII emission nebula is located 10,000 light years away in the constellation of Cepheus at a declination of +58 degrees.  It spans 1 arc-minute in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 3 light years.

The HII region is harboring significant star formation.  The star cluster at the center of this object contains 4 massive stars and over 50 young stellar objects.

I can’t help but see a faint face in the right side of the nebula, looking right as if it were a ghostly apparition.
