Description

SH2-292 is the head of the Seagull Nebula located on the border of the constellations of Monoceros and Canis Major. It is part of a larger HII region of ionized hydrogen gas and has a large patch of dark nebula contributing to its unique shape that some, including me, say looks more like a parrot's head. It's located about 3700 light years from Earth.
