Description

I'd planned for this to be an SHO image when I located the area in this epic mosaic by @Bray Falls.
I failed to realize (again) that I can't get nearly as much signal from my Bortle 7 backyard as you can from Sierra Remote... especially OIII, and especially during full moon.
I stuck with it anyway and put almost 14 hours of OIII in this image. That OIII stack had very little signal and contributed very little to the image... what a waste of time .
I didn't even try SII, as the first subs showed nothing.
I really like this image though, and I think it's my best star color processing yet. The bright nebulosity on the right side of the image reminds me of a tulip, hence the title.
I added some subtle diffraction spikes to really make it pop. What do we think of fake spikes?
Hope you enjoy. CS
