The Silver Needle Galaxy, also known as NGC 4244 or Caldwell 26, is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Canes Venatici. It spans approximately 65,000 light-years and is situated around 13.5 million light-years away from Earth. This galaxy appears as a wafer-thin streak across the sky and is part of the M94 Group or Canes Venatici I. It was discovered on March 17, 1787, by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel.
