Description

This image was taken using a home made 18" focal length F/4 astrograph. It is a repeat of an image from 2015-2016 using a STL11000M with some additional data from this year using a new ASI 600M camera. This allowed me to improve the under sampled image using drizzle, and resampling.

This Super Nova Remnant was discovered by Gart Westerhout with the 25-meter radio dish. It has been since mapped with other radio telescopes and is described as a thin shell. Current thinking is the SNR sits infront of the massive Halpha cloud. SNR G082.2+05.3 measures some 150 light years across at a distance of 4900 light years. Its age is estimated at about 20,000 years. While it seems there is only OIII emission nebula and radio waves, and x-rays. There is in fact come fine Halpha structure running nearly parallel to the brighter OIII, this appears to me to be a very weak Halpha shock front signature.
