This image is a result of taking 15 shots at ISO 1600 for 180 seconds. Sometimes you have to have luck as my declination motor gear slipped and was not performing well. Then the wind started picking up and gusts of 40 mph occurred. To top that off I kicked off the battery cable to my mount and when I reconnected I forgot to reframe my camera and so I lost 20 shots. Thus I had to make do with the 15 shots. I wasn't sure what to expect since my guiding wasn't great and my guide star was doing all sorts of scintillation and I about tossed in the towel. However, I was able to come up with a stacked image via DSS which was then mildly processed in Photoshop. Sometimes I am aggressive with the post processing and this time I went the complete other way and most probably underprocessed this image.

I used a Takahashi FSQ-130ED and the 645 reducer for a focal length of 455 mm. I guided with a 60mm guide scope operating at 500 mm and a ZWO camera. I used PHD2 guiding software in combination with APT software and I did dither. Also, I used Spike-A-Flat to get my flat frames.

My imaging camera is a Canon Ra.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
