Description

This is an image I got a couple of years ago. I don’t recall all of the particulars, but I am pretty sure I used my Explore Scientific ED127 and my Sony A7R3 camera to do it. The stars have some radiaI spikes around bright stars caused by screws used for holding the objective lenses in place during shipping. Those artifacts mostly went away after I backed the screws out a bit.

I found this image in the photos section on my computer and decided I could do a bit more post processing to make it look a bit better. In the last few years my post processing has improved and I have a few more tools at my disposal to use as a bonus. The nice thing about M42 is you don’t need a huge amount of data to get a decent image. It is still one of my favorite targets for imaging and viewing through an eyepiece.
