Description

This not-oft-imaged nebula evokes Edvard Munch's "The Scream" as the shockwaves from SNR G65.3+5.7 (which includes Sh2-91) bear down from the northwest on the poor soul looking up at it in horror.

The Scream.png

Ionized by the star WR-127, Sh2-92 is roughly 14,000 light years away on the border of Vulpecula and Cygnus. SNR G65.3+5.7 is actually much closer at ~3,200 light years, so it poses no real danger to our protagonist. Still, the image of these things together is compelling.

This shot is part of a four-panel mosaic I'm planning to complete this summer. But I felt that the framing of this panel was strong enough to share on its own.
