Description

M101 - The Pinwheel Galaxy

Located about 21 million lightyears away in the constellation Ursa Major, M101 is a face-on spiral galaxy, believed to be similar to Andromeda. Spanning about 170,000 light years, t is considerably larger than our own Milky Way galaxy.

This image is comprised of about 14.5 hours worth of data shot during 2020, 2021 and 2022.  10 hours using the Celestron LP filter and 4.5  hours using the STC Astro Duo narrowband filter to capture the Ha data.
The data was calibrated and stacked using Astropixel Processor and processed using Pixinsight and Photoshop along with Starnet and Topaz Denoise.
