Description

Copernicus Crater is probably one of the most well-known and characteristic formations of the lunar relief. The light trails of its radiant system are clearly visible.

North of Copernicus lies the Carpathian Mountains (Montes Carpatus) 400 km long, which border the rainy sea (Mare Imbrium). It consists of isolated mountains and massifs with an average altitude of between 1000 and 2000 m.

Above Copernicus and slightly to the left appears a wide groove 40 km long (Rima Gay-Lussac).
