Description

This object is a beautiful open star cluster located 13,000 light years away in the constellation of Lyra at a declination of +38 degrees. The cluster spans 13 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 50 light years.

This cluster has an estimated a mass of approximately 5,000 solar masses, which makes it one of the most massive open clusters known to date. It looks more like a globular cluster to me than an open cluster.
