Description

I used a different workflow for this stacked Stellina image.

I color calibrated the image with PI's SPCC (SpectroPhotometric Color Calibration) instead of using APP background and star color calibration as shown in the original image I uploaded. I made this image because I wanted to strike a balance between the two - get rid of the pink galaxy center from the APP calibration and keep the yellow galaxy center from the PI SPCC calibration. The yellow galaxy center seems more correct when comparing to a NASA image.

Workflow for this image:

Open unstretched, uncalibrated, unedited APP stack fits file in PI; unlinked STF stretch; save as xisf 32-bit floating point; Crop; Fast Rotation to correct orientation; ABE (or DBE); Image Solver; SPCC; BXT nonstellar-only 0.25; NXT 0.80/0.15; convert to nonlinear with STF/Histogram Transformation; StarNet2.

Starmask: SCNR Green 1.00; Curves Transformation increase saturation; Correct Magenta Stars 0.60.

Starless: Canon Banding Reduction; SCNR Green 0.60; Range Selection/Curves Transformation/SCNR to isolate galaxy and highlights, decrease background saturation, enhance galaxy color, remove some residual green; NXT 0.90/0.15; remove range selection; Curves Transformation RGB/K to darken background.
Recombine starless and starmask with Pixel Math.

Photoshop: color noise reduction, color mixer to increase orange and yellow star saturation and a slight shift in temperature to blue.

At least, that's how I remember it - I experiment and backtrack as I go.
