Description

It is an H II region in a very advanced phase of its evolution; in the visible light band it appears as a nebula with a low surface brightness, surrounded, especially on the northwest side, by a dark dust lane. One of the stars responsible for the ionization of the gases of the nebula could be LSI+60°8, a massive star of spectral class O 9.5, located outside the cloud itself; the hottest stars in the H II region and responsible for its ionization would, however, be completely enveloped in gas. The distance of the cloud, equal to 12,500 light-years  indicates that it is located in the outer part of the Perseus Arm, in the same region of the OB Cassiopeia OB2 association and that of Sh2-157 .
