Description

After seeing @Gary Imm's recent image of NGC 1555, I thought I would give the area a try with the RASA8 + 2600MC. Definitely check Gary's well written explanation of the region.  While looking at the framing in the sky atlas, I quickly realized how near Sh2-239 was to the initial framing. A shift in my initial image plan lead to a promising first night and then I added some more integration time with the new moon.

The bright star in the middle left portion of he image is Epsilon Tauri and also known as AIN. It is an orange giant star currently burning helium in its core. The stars resides 146 light years from earth and it harbors a large exoplanet. This luminous star provide quite a challenge for this image creating internal reflections within the left portion of the image.

NGC 1555 also known as Hinds Variable nebula is young reflection nebula  located in the top right portion of the image. It is a young stellar region with T Tauri stars dramatically  shaping the surrounding molecular cloud. Multiple HH objects seen within the area of Hinds Variable Nebula. The formation is approximately 4 lightyears across and located only 400 lightyears from Earth.

Sh2-239 is a combination of two younger star forming areas imbedded in the molecular cloud of LDN 1551 located in the low left portion of the image.  As in the case of its neighbor, multiple HH regions are seen with the young and slight older stars carving out the molecular cloud. The formation measures 3 light years in diameter containing 50 solar masses located 450 lightyears from earth.
