Description

This was a faint spiral galaxy in Draco. It appears to have low surface brightness although the aggregate magnitude is not too dim. The individual subs, though showed up fairly dimly. The bright blue nebulae stood out quite a bit brighter than the rest of the galaxy and I had to, um, stretch my stretching skills to handle them. My first attempts kept blowing out the details in those nebulae by the time I was done. To prevent that I deferred the last step of my normal GHS triple (GHS, linear, GHS) and after the linear step did the remainder of my processing steps and then did my final GHS stretch. This worked out fairly well though it placed an upper limit on how far I could push the body of the galaxy. As it is, I was probably going as far with that as the data could support anyway so it seemed a good choice

Processing:

RGB:
channel combination
dynamic crop
DBE
SPCC
blurXterminator
starXterminator (extracting unscreened stars)
noiseXterminator
GHS (GHS, linear)
Histogram Transformation (masked to reduce a star halo)
HDRMT
LHE
GHS (GHS)
MLT (very mild sharpening)
pixel math (screen in stars)

stars:
GHS
unsharp mask (very mild sharpening)
