Description

"Do you have to re-collimate your telescope after each use?" Recently I've had a few people come to me and ask questions such as this one with regard to my Hypersar focal reducer for my Celestron EdgeHD 9.25" SCT telescope. I thought now would be a good time to answer some questions and give a little demo on how to use the Hyperstar. Below are some common questions I get about my setup and the Hyperstar but feel free to ask me anything!

1) "Do you have to re-collimate your scope after every use?" - No not at all!

2) "Why use the Hyplerstar?" - Hyperstar cuts your focal ratio from f/10 to ~f/2 which provides a much wider field of view and makes imaging super fast (I usually do anywhere from 60s subs to 180s). It also makes your Celestron SCT telescope a lot more versatile because with a single scope you can image at f/2 with the Hyperstar, f/10 without any focal reducer, or (with the help of Celestron's .7 focal reducer) f/7!

3) "Is it difficult to install?" - Nope! See the video on my Instagram @Andromedad12

4) "Will having a reducer, a camera, and cords right in front of my aperture impact image quality?" - Not that I can tell but you be the judge; all of my wider field images are taken with the Hyperstar

5) "Can you use filters with it?" - Yes just make sure you get the interchangeable filter version

6) "How do I guide while using Hyperstar?" - You'll need a separate guide camera and scope

I welcome any other questions on the Hyperstar or on my setup or on pool maintenance lol!
