Description

NGC3190  is the principal galaxy of the NGC3190 group, which involves other bright nearby galaxies NGC3185 and NGC3187, as wel as NGC3221, NGC3177, NGC3162 and possibly the galaxies surrounding NGC3227, 2° to the SSE. NGC3190 is a highly inclined spiral galaxy with a large, bright extended core in a smooth outer enveloppe. The principal dust lane is thick and somewhat inclined  to the core of the galaxy: it is disturbed to the NNW, where a tidal interaction with NGC3187 may have occured. Distance 54 mly. Angular size 4.4'x1.5' . Diameter 69000 ly. (From Mark Bratton's " The complete guide to herschel objects", Cambridge university press) . Object H44_2 in Herschel's catalog, where the _2 stands for the Faint nebulae class objects.
