This is my first attempt at a nebula in a dense star field. Obviously I haven’t done a lot with the stars other than dim them a bit. I added some dark frames to my revision. I am finding that post processing can take more time than getting data in the first place. I think I must have redone my post processing a half dozen times.
I took my images at my favorite dark site in the desert west of Salt Lake City. I would estimate it is a Bortle 3 which makes longer exposures possible without having to use filters.
This year the weather seems to be conspiring against me. I have only be able to get out and do astroimaging twice in the last 8 months, so I find myself going back over older images I have done and tweaking them just for something to do. If the weather is clear, it’s either a full moon or I have to work. On the last two versions I did star reductions each time. This hobby is on the deep side. It seems like there is always something to improve-------------or make worse if you stare at your image too long.
