Description

IC 5146, SH 2-125 - The Cocoon Nebula is a reflection and emission nebula about 4000 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus. Hydrogen from a  cluster of young hot stars reflects off the dust from a surrounding molecular cloud. The dust also forms areas of dark nebula, where the light from more distant stars is obscured. The beautiful blue reflection nebula on the left is VdB 147 from the Van den Bergh Catalogue.

Just for a bit of fun, I combined my Ha data from June this year with an OSC image that I took in June 3 years ago. I'm really pleased with the result. Hoping to add more to this at some stage.

Clear skies!

Tony.
