Description

This is my first attempt at the Bubble Nebula.  It combines 6.2 hours of Ha, 6 hours OIII, and 5.5 hours of SII in the SHO format to reveal the 7 light year diameter bubble.  The star in the upper left of the image is 45 times the mass of our sun and thousands of times more luminous.  This star is the source of energy in the form of radiation and solar wind (atomic particles) that have pushed out the structure of flowing gas in the molecular cloud that surrounds it.   We are lucky it is only 7,100 light years away so we are able to capture these images and marvel at the cosmic processes that until recently were not even known to exist.
