Who does not know Forest .... Forest Gump! I love his view on life, comparing it with a box of chocolates, not knowing what the next will bring. One of the best movies for me, and I am pretty sure that I am not alone with this opinion 😊.
And what would fit better to this than IC 1396. Oh, how many trials did I do already to capture the magnificence of this unique nebula. And to be honest, none of them was really satisfying, it is so difficult to make it smooth and finding the right color. And when I took these images I did not have much hope, hence I just got them as fillers for the next target. AND ... I almost forgot about them, I would have if I had not looked into my inventory last week. Well, what did I expect anyway with 2.5 hours of data, can't be that good. And yes, I picked the right chocolate, no idea how! The data that came together was a total surprise, never even expected that a presentable image would come out of those. But the final result was so much better than my previous trials, I was stunned. I can only contribute that to the scope and the camera, must be the difference. Of course everything in the eye of the beholder, I know that the golden tint is not the most popular one, but for me, it is, hence here presenting the result of data that lie around for half a year, considered more than garbage than anything else.
Version B is the HDR emphasized image, could not really decide which one I do like better, hence I chose it as an overlay 😊.
I am still stunned that a 2.5h backyard image could produce this one, now I have to rethink my approach of long integration times (😊, not really, this nebula is bright and helps with that tremendously).
