Description

The Dolphin Head Nebula (Object Sh2-308) is a huge ball of gas spanning more than 60 light-years. It is a structure blown by stellar wind particles from the blue Wolf-Rayet star at the center of the nebula. It is located at a distance of 5000 light years from us in the constellation Canis Major. If it could be seen with the naked eye, it would occupy as much space in the sky as the full Moon.
