Description

Southern Cross aka the Crux constellation is a Southern Hemisphere target par excellence located 25 degrees away from the SCP (south celestial pole). It is the smallest constellation in the night sky as a whole, and also referred as an asterism.

Many counties have depicted it on their flags symbolizing their southern locations, but Brazil had a different take (flag in the 1st comment), they implemented it with a twist (literally):

All the stars depicted on the Brazilian flag are actually flipped, it represents stars observed from the outer space far-far away from Earth, as 'observed' on 15 November 1889 at 08:30 towards Rio de Janeiro. I am not sure whether a flat earther or an avantgardiste was behind this idea, but that outer-space observer, if ever existed, would have definitely had a different view.
