We are three friends, Olivier, Thierry and Laurent, united by an unwavering passion for astronomy and astrophotography. Our paths crossed when we were each looking for a permanent home for our astronomical equipment, and it soon became clear that our interests and skills were not only complementary, but multiplied by this collaboration.
LTO is an acronym for "Little Telescope Observatory" and "Laurent, Thierry and Olivier" as well.
Our investment in astronomy
Faced with the infinite complexity and beauty of the universe, we quickly realized that investment in high quality equipment would be essential. This investment is not limited to the financial aspect, but extends to the time and effort we have devoted to mastering the techniques of observation and imaging. We have pooled our resources to acquire specialized equipment that allows us to delve deeper into the study of celestial objects and capture their splendor in ways that would otherwise be impossible.
Our passion for astrophotography
For us, astrophotography isn't just a hobby; it's a scientific art form that requires meticulous attention to detail. From selecting targets to fine-tuning camera parameters, every step requires thought and expertise. And the result is always a reward in itself: an image that reveals little-known facets of the universe, whether a complex nebular structure or the subtle ballet of interacting galaxies.
Our goals
Our goal is not only to capture stunning images, but also to contribute to our collective understanding of the wonders of the heavens. Each of our images is the result of hours of planning, observation, and processing, with the goal of revealing not only the beauty, but also the scientific mysteries that these celestial objects may hold.
We're excited to share our passion and discoveries with a wider community.
community, from curious amateurs to professionals in the field. Through our images and observations, we hope to inspire a new generation of astronomers and enrich human knowledge of the universe around us.
Laurent's Presentation:
I first became interested in the stars when I was young, about ten years old. But the beginning was complicated because I didn't have the money to buy equipment. I also found it difficult to go out and meet amateur astronomers, and for a long time I just watched telescopes from a distance. Then, thanks to a chance meeting with a professional, I was lucky enough to observe through some extraordinary instruments, including a 1m diameter Deltagraph.
This encounter even led me to live near an internationally renowned astronomical observatory, in a place where the sky is quite good for France, with very good sunshine, reaching about 300 clear nights a year. That's why our telescope is installed in my house. Some time later, I met Thierry again, quite unexpectedly, through a mutual friend. I went to elementary school with Thierry and we lost touch just as he was beginning his passion for astronomy. Thanks to social networks, I saw that he was interested in astronomy and got back in touch with him so that we could do something together.
I've never met Olivier in person. He lives in the southwest, while Thierry and I are in the southeast. We still communicate through messages. I met him through my best friend in Paris and he told me about his project. None of this would have happened without Olivier. He is the initiator, and for that, I am very grateful to him.
