Originally from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands Julio Encarnacion began his Astronomy venture in August of 2020. Around this same time Comet Neowise was passing through our region in space. Julio’s grandmother has always been the person to look out the back door to see if there's rain coming or how bad the Saharian dust will be on that day. One day in August she mentioned to him that he should try to see it with his camera. So, Julio took his Canon 6d and Rokinon 14mm lens to the beach in front of his house at a bortle zone of 3.5-4. Julio said he was amazed at what he saw, so he quickly invested in a William Optics Zenithstar 61 refractor with a focal length of 360mm. Eventually he purchased his first equatorial mount, then a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope @ 2300mm , to finally in September 11, 2021 purchasing a stronger refractor at 900mm focal length and Maksutov-Cassegrain with a focal length of 2700mm from a Vietnam Veteran named Charlie. Julio would like everyone to know that he will continue to travel deeper into space and expand his knowledge on processing his astro images. Stay Challenged!
