I first got into astronomy in my early teens with a 10" Dob from Meade up in the cloudy Pacific Northwest. I only stuck with it for a couple of years until I got fed up with the only handful of cloudless nights a year. I only recently picked up astrophotography during the COVID lockdown starting in 2020 (since for once I had the time and money to do so! This is not a cheap nor low time commitment hobby).

My day job is as an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Biology, and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences at Penn State University, and my PhD is in mathematics.
