I grew up in a light polluted suburb of D.C. in Hyattsville Maryland and relocated to the Raleigh NC area in 1988.

I am a software engineer, currently working for Netchex. They are based in Covington, LA but I work remotely from my home in Cary, NC.
I'm married with 3 grown children and 5 grand children.

I got into astronomy in the late 90s after my wife bought a cheap "yard sale" scope. Frustrated with that scope I took it to a meeting of the local astronomy club (Raleigh) where I was encouraged to get a "real" telescope. I got a 6" dob which served me for years until I upgraded to an Orion XT12G and ultimately got into astrophotography. I am a member of the Raleigh astronomy club but don't make it to meetings or events as often as I'd like.

I have since sold the dob and bought a Celestron EdgeHD 8" as well as an Orion ED80TCF Triplet refractor. My mount is an Atlas EQ-G. I use the Orion SSAG and PHD2 for guiding, BackyardEOS for image acquisition, DeekSkyStacker for image calibration and stacking and Photoshop for post-processing.
