Description

While searching for objects for the photos last week, I came across Sh2-224.
I had never seen this object before.

Sh2-224 is a supernova remnant that can be seen in the constellation Auriga (Furhmann).
It is also referred to as the "Rice Hat Nebula" on the internet.
The image also shows the HII region Sh2-223.

Both objects are extremely faint.
Due to the clear nights last week, I was able to collect a total of about 25 hours of light.

I tried to get the best out of it by stretching, which is unfortunately noticeable in the noise.
The OIII signal only comes through very weakly with the Optolong L-Extreme.
I reduced the size of the stars to make the object stand out better, otherwise you can hardly see it.
Unfortunately, the framing was not quite optimal either. But you can't see the object in Steallarium
nor in the framing assistant of NINA.

Perhaps an interesting target for one or the other with faster telescopes.
I get F/4.7 with a reducer, which is probably a little too little....
Nevertheless, I am quite satisfied with the result.
