Description

The moldy strawberry nebula is actually a vibrant emission (Sh2-263) and reflection nebula (vdB 38) combo surrounded by interstellar dust located in the constellation of Orion just to the north of the star Bellatrix. (I managed to all but elude bellatrix in my image but it brillant light slipped in none the less as can be seen in the very bottom left corner of the frame)

Sh2-265 appears as well near the center of the image as a
reddish faint emission nebula along with LDN 1589 and LDN 1590 as dark nebulae embedded in it.  A number of very small faint galaxies can be seen scattered throughout the field of view with the brightest just above and to the right of Sh2-263 itself.

Imagers Note: This was basically a first light test photo of the new Optolong L-Quad Extreme filter I recieved for Christmas from my wife.  Since i didn't know what to expect at the time, I ended up pairing this with data from the Askar D1 filter to strengthen the Ha, but come to find out I should have just stuck with the Quad for the entire imaging session as it did quite well with the Ha as well with the blue reflection nebula light I was hoping it would collect better then my previous broad band filter the Optolong L-Pro.

The new Quad filter worked very well the first time out,  and I've been shooting with it during a recent clear sky stretch with some really excellent results that I'll be posting shortly to share.
