Crab Nebula (catalogue designations M1, NGC 1952, Taurus A) is a supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula in the constellation of Taurus. The common name comes from William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, who observed the object in 1842 using a 36-inch (91 cm) telescope and produced a drawing that looked somewhat like a crab. The nebula was discovered by English astronomer John Bevis in 1731, and it corresponds with a bright supernova recorded by Chinese astronomers in 1054. The nebula was the first astronomical object identified that corresponds with a historical supernova explosion."
I don't think I've ever seen a rendition of this object that actually looks like a crab (too bad we didn't have CMOS cameras in 1842), so I've tried to make it look a bit like an Easter egg. This object is interesting as it seems to have both broadband and narrowband structure. I blended both in the final rendition here, but have also uploaded the HSO and RGB components on their own.
Stacking, gradient removal, RGB color calibration, and stretching in Siril, Star removal with Starnet++v2, Denoise with Topaz, and composition and camera raw filter in Photoshop. Much better than my
first attempt at M1 with a WO Z61.
