Description

This seldom imaged but interesting object is an emission nebula located 3000 light years away in the Cepheus constellation at a declination of +65 degrees.   The nebula is about 2 degrees wide.  The HII-dominated image was processed using RGB stars.

This object lies about 2 degrees north of the similarly shaped, but much brighter and smaller, Cave Nebula (Sh2-155).

I liked the curved nature of this HII region, and especially the lower left portion which has the appearance of twisting.  A few small dark nebulae are silhouetted against the emission.

The dim gray PN identified in the mouseover is not worth finding in the full resolution view.
