Description

In an annular eclipse as the moon approaches second and third contact, the horns of the crescent sun start to converge. 

Whisps of the bright sun can be seen between the caves and crevasses of the moon, an effect known as “Bailey’s beads” . 

Normally this is a total eclipse phenomenon, but not always…
Between the horns of each ring, you can see the beads although some well placed solar prominences helped to light them up.

Shot with a Lunt 40mm solar scope and aan ASI174MM camera,  tracking on a Skywatcher Star Adventurer under the beautiful New Mexican skies October 14th 2023.
