Description

My first take on NGC2264, the Cone Nebula.  First saw this object from a post from someone I follow here on Astrobin.  What a fascinating object.  I was not really too familiar with the object until I did last nights shoot.  I can now see both from my image and others, when I do this again I should plan on doing a mosaic and capture a much wider field of view.  I used Russell Crowman's BXT plugin for PixInsight on this.  I'm loving that module for nebula work like this.  Does a perfect job of pushing the stars back a bit without removing them and sharpening up the nebula edges at the same time.

I cropped this image but noticed on my full view that I was getting eggs pointing to the respective corners.  Ahh one more thing to buy right? I need to get the Lunt Field Flattener for my LS80MT.  Just ordered it this morning.  Hopefully that will dispatch the oval corner stars.
