Description

Many thanks to @blackrig  for providing free data from the Moana Project in Texas. Moana is a 10" DIY Newtonian Astrograph.

NGC 2359 (Also known as SH 2-298 or Thor's Helmet) is about 12,000 light years away in the constellation of Canis Major. The Wolf-Raynet star responsible for this emission nebula is WR7, an extremely hot star which has lost most of its Hydrogen.

Modified SHO Hubble Palette, starting with the Foraxx "power of inverted pixels" method at:  https://thecoldestnights.com/2020/06/pixinsight-dynamic-narrowband-combinations-with-pixelmath/  The stars were processed separately from 2 hours of RGB data.

Clear skies!

Tony.
