Description

2 and a half hours of 4 minute exposures across a few nights in which I was primarily shooting other targets. Not bad for a filler target!

The IC 1795 nebula, also known as the Fishhead Nebula or NGC 896, is a beautiful emission nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is a region of active star formation, with many young stars being born within its clouds of gas and dust. The nebula is about 6,500 light-years away from Earth and is part of a larger star-forming region called W3. It is a relatively large nebula, spanning over 25 light-years in diameter. The bright, central part of the nebula, which resembles a fish's head, is formed by a group of massive stars that are heating up and ionizing the surrounding gas.The Fishhead Nebula is a popular target for astrophotographers due to its striking appearance and the interesting shapes and colors created by the gas and dust clouds. It can be observed with a telescope or binoculars, but it is best viewed from a dark sky location with good seeing conditions.Overall, the IC 1795 nebula is a fascinating and beautiful example of the ongoing process of star formation in our galaxy.
