Description

This is my edit of our gigantic collaboration Project with @pete_xl , @Francesco Meschia  and @Andrew.

All of us, have a similar setup, with an 910mm F7 APO. Three of us used an ASI2600MMP and one used a ASI294MMP. While me and Pete where able to image under a Bortle 4 sky, the guys from USA had to manage a Bortle 7 sky.

We have collected at least 250 Hours in 2 months of M106 and the enclosing area and have processed 400GB of data!

The capture details above contains my subs only, with the contribution of all group members we could use:

L         692 x 90s = 17,3h
R         475 x 60s = 7,9h
G         500 x 60s = 8,3h
B         499 x 60s = 8,3h
OIII      183 x 300s = 15,3h
OIII      358 x 600s = 59,7h
Ha        513 x 300s =42,8h
Ha        396x 600s = 66,0 h

with a total of 3616 images and an overall exposure time of 225,5 h.

I have tried to keep the colors as realistic as possible. Revealing the narrow-band details, without loosing the RGB colors, was a tough and time expensive process.

Because of the extremely deep imaging, we were able to evolve some incredible details in the center of M106.
The main ha jet is supported by O-III and is splitted into 3 jets, while the main jet is formed almost only by Ha, the other two branches are very strong visible in O-III.

The amount of deep imaging revealed a lot of tiny background galaxies.

I personally never spend so much time in capturing AND editing of a single target, but I have learned so much while this project!
