I would probably like this target more at large focal lengths but I can't say it's my favourite with a widefield setup like mine. Compositionally there isn't much you can do with it besides centre it in the frame and I just don't find it very interesting to look at. Anyway, it was well placed in the sky during the small window I had and was still the best choice for my location and conditions at the time. I had a few other targets in mind but the moon was about so decided to stick to narrowband.
The UK weather being what it has in the past while only left me with 4 hours of clear skies in the past month.
- A quick summary of my processing for this one for anyone interested:
- Cropped out edges
- Removed stars with StarX and generated a star mask using the unscreen option
- Ran BlurX on the starless
- Ran NoiseX on the starless
- Stretched using GHS (i'm still getting to grips with it)
- Curves adjustments for colours, saturation and contrast
- Stretched the stars separately using Arcsinh Stretch
- Rescreened stars back into the image
- Ran NoiseX to clear up some colour noise that has crept back
- Run BlurX on very minor settings for a little star sharpening
