Description

The Vela SNR is full of wonderful structures to investigate at a variety of focal lengths.  I chose to image the [OIII] shell called the Blue Chilli, having previously seen a beautiful image here on AB.  My recollection was that it stood rather on its own, but in this 7.5 Foraxx SHO image, the Blue Chilli, lies in a forest of [OIII] shells, bounded by two spectular Ha/[OIII] shells on either side.

The detail in the gas - even at 640mm focal length - is stunning. and no sharpening other than BXT was supplied.

It now remainds me less of a Blue Chilli and more of Jackson Pollack's "Blue Poles" which hangs in the Australian Parliament.

15 x 600s n each of Ha, [OIII] and [SII]
