Description

NGC 7822 (also designated Sharpless 171, SH 2-171) is a young irregular emission nebula and star forming region of about 40 light-years across, located some 3,300 light-years away at the edge of a giant molecular cloud toward the northern constellation Cepheus.

Imaged over several nights, this was a crop from my AT60ED using a Duo-band filter, the L-Ultimate.

I used this as an experiment to upload a hover image [same pixel sizes] . This also shows that "normal" stars in an image are really deformed when closely inspected. This shows star defects associated with an inexpensive smaller scope along with aberrations using the different Pixinsight methodologies and add-ons (BlurX, NoiseX, etc.]. So look closely at the hover image and note the strange stars. However, for a [relatively] cheap doublet ...I can't complain!

I am still amazed that from my Bortle 6/7 driveway with a small, relatively inexpensive 60 mm refractor I can get images like this. They are not great but to me they are!!
