Description

Processing:

Started with a modified Hubble Pallet then standard processing with BlurX, NoiseX and StarX on the NB.  Worked a lot with GHS on the H-alpha, which became the false L.

Various Collections for Comparison:

I must like this object since this is the fourth rendition.

The first below was taken with my Takahashi 180Ed  with a CCD.... gives and idea of how the Clamshell actually is supposed to look.  The others are with my Stellarvue and are smaller fields.

Basic Information From GalaxyMap:

Sh 2-119 is located near the North American nebula (Sh 2-117, NGC 7000). Avedisova lists 6 ionising stars. The hottest of these is the O 7.5 III runaway star 68 Cygni (HD 203064), which was likely blasted out of the Cepheus OB2 association about 5.2 million years ago.

It is also known as HS 240 = [GS55] 240.

Likely ionised by 68 Cygni.[[url=http://galaxymap.org/cat/view/sharpless/119#note_1]1]

GENERAL NOTE ON SHARPLESS2 OBJECTS>>>>>>>>>>>>>

There are 313 Sh2 objects.  All now imaged by yours truly.  These are basically the Hydrogen Alpha and other ionized nebulae around the edge of the Milky Way.

This is my collection:

Wide-Angle Hydrogen Alpha Nikon Image Sh2 79-171

Please note there is also a Sharpless2 Group with now more than 3000 examples.
