Description

This image captures several emission reflection and dark nebulae located in the constellation of Orion at a declination of 8 degrees. As with many areas of Orion, this is an interesting, delicate, and beautiful area of the sky.

As shown on the annotated image, this region is anchored by Sh2-263 at upper left and Sh2-265 at lower right.  Sh2-263 has the nicknames of the Raspberry Nebula, the Strawberry Nebula, and Moldy Strawberry Nebula.  The blue reflection nebula within Sh2-263 is vdB 38.

Just below and left of Sh2-263, the horizontal grouping of bright stars is the open star cluster Dolidze 19.  Similarily, just below and left of Sh2-265 is the open star cluster Dolidze 17. Not much has been documented in the literature on these objects.

The tiny bright red nebula just below and right of Sh2-265 is the Herbig-Haro object HH114.
